Before and After shots of restoration of a late 1800’s Victorian side light. I replaced 21 pieces total. The panel had a mate on the opposite side of the front door so it had to be restored vs. replaced. I couldn’t source replacement glass for the taupe French Craquel glass, so I plated (layered) clear Craquel with plain taupe colored glass. I was able to match the rest of the damaged glass well enough.

Before & after shots. Client salvaged this just in time from a building that was being demolished. I restored the leaded glass but I don’t pretend that wood work is my forte, someone else will finish that part (which should have been done 1st, but who listens to me? 😜)

Simple design but the amount of work that went into these custom bevels was nearly cost prohibitive. Shout out to Redfield’s Beveling, Lawrence, KS for their collaboration on this project. The glass is 1/4” German New Antique, showcasing its signature striations, further enhanced by beveling to add so much movement. My client said the beveled, leaded sidelights are the best feature of her new entryway. The sidelights will get sun from the south & west mid to late afternoon - the prismatic effect at that time will be dazzling!

I hosted a private workshop over the weekend for mother/daughter team Deborah & Alexis. They designed a pattern, learned how to cut glass, foil glass and solder. They left with matching mini panels. It was too dark to photograph the final project in natural light but they turned out very well!! Unique holiday gift idea. @acanary

Just one of the objects I adore in my studio. A Parmesan cheese shaker that’s been used for decades to hold English Whiting. It represents many windows puttied and then polished with the whiting. Years of putty build up hardened onto the shaker. Looks like it came from an ancient pizza parlor in Pompeii.

This mosaic number sign was mounted on its forever home last week. I don’t think anyone will have trouble spotting it.

This mosaic number sign was mounted on its forever home last week. I don’t think anyone will have trouble spotting it.

Client’s only request for this townhome number sign was “colorful.” Rarely do I get mosaic commissions but I love them! Rather than mosaic the outside edges I applied the “lip” from stained glass sheets. The lip is the smooth, uneven edge of hand rolled or mouth blown glass sheets (see last photo) that are normally discarded. I’m in the habit of saving them until I figure out how to incorporate them into something - I am fairly delighted with this application here.

Sweet beach house in Ocean Grove NJ. What started as a cutting order became a leaded panel. My client initially wanted to replace the original clear glass of the front door window (a six pane grid) with subtle colored glass to add warmth and a bit of privacy. I asked if I could come measure. He assured me his measurements were exact. I cut the glass for him. Upon delivery I discovered he had measured the distance between the mullions not realizing the panes between/beneath the mullions are about 1/4”bigger all around (which is why I wanted to measure). I had more material at home so I drew up a quick design to include the now too small glass I’d cut and we turned it into a happy accident! His builder removed the original window and made a sash for me to insert a leaded panel instead, adding a nice homey touch.

AFTER photos (see previous post) When @hmhistoricalconservation stripped the paint from the sashes it was revealed that the entire structure was solid brass! So stunning.
